I'm sitting at a window at the United Red Carpet club at the Denver airport waiting for our 8:00 p.m. flight to London. Out the window is a magnificent view of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. It's a pleasant scene. Getting to this point is another story.
Michael originally booked this trip to begin April 19th. The Icelandic volcano put a hold on those plans! We rescheduled the trip for this week. No volcano, only a massive oil spill in the gulf of Mexico and an attempted car bombing in NYC. Whatever the reason, I got selected for in depth screening when I got to security at the airport. The TSA people were very polite but insistent. My carry on got sent through the X-ray machine twice. I was thoroughly patted down and my bags were not only searched, but all the electronic items (cell phone, battery charger, i-Pod and camera) were tested for chemicals by a gentleman who ran strips of treated paper over each item and inserted the strips into a machine that beeped. It must have been a good beep because I passed the inspection. It was a good thing that we had taken an early bus to the airport.
A large plane just pulled up to our gate. One can hope things will go smoothly from here.
